DEAD WEIGHT JOIN THE REACT! CREW, NWHC EP OUT SOON

We’re excited to announce that Dead Weight has joined the REACT! Crew. The band was conceived in 2010 by five guys who share a common love for hardcore. The band’s influences range from Agnostic Front to Cro-Mags to Life’s Blood, and much like its New York Hardcore influencers, They’re a band that values honesty above all else; because, without honesty, it’s not hardcore, it’s just heavy music. Dead Weight is not a NYHC rehash band. Dead Weight is a NWHC band and exists to fly that flag.

Their new EP NWHC is four songs of raging Accused-style speed-picked hardcore, combined with the NYHC influence of bands like Cro-Mags and Sick of it All, and oi!-inspired vocal styles of bands like Negative FX and Life’s Blood. I’ve listened to it non-stop since I got it, and I gotta say DAMN this EP is seriously badass! You can listen to two NEW SONGs here:

ANCHOR RECOVERY LP OUT SOON!

You know, sometimes I look at the REACT! Roster and think, “Man this is beyond dope, I love every band on here”. Oh shit, here comes another band that makes me beyond excited about HC. Anchor is a hardcore band with members spread out all over Scandinavia, yet keeping up a relentless tour schedule, always with an urge to do and see more. I’ve know these guys for years and have the deepest respect for their message, passion, and integrity so I’m amped to have them on the label.

Recovery is Anchor’s second full length, and the band’s debut release on React! records. This is the North American version of the album, with the European version already out on Refuse Records. Call it 90′s hardcore if you will, and you might be right, but there are hints here and there of the Scandinavian heritage. Weather it’s a catchy melody a’la Millencolin, or a crushing riff flirting more with the Swedish death metal scene than anything else, Anchor is bringing it all together nicely on this LP. NOOSE EUROPEAN TOUR

Noose is awesome! I back their message, and the way they say it. It’s funny how watered down bands can be sometimes because they want to be popular, get on whackage deal tours, and generally fit in. Noose on the other hand is like that weird dude at the party that says outrageous things and bum people out. Hell, they actually ARE those people. Zero care about being popular, they’re a no apologies Vegan Straight Edge band from Chicago and it doesn’t hurt that they are seriously great. Both REACT! EPs are amazing, and they have a new one coming out on Refuse Records that I’m sure will upset the sensitive, get true core fiends psyched, and result in having some lyrics quoted in regrettable hand and throat tattoos.

Beyond their new EP on Refuse they’ll also have a special press of The War of All Against All EP limited to 200 copies on purple vinyl with screened covers. Someone inform Ebay that some stuff is gonna happen. Anyway, here are the dates:

RXR-030 Mindset- Collection LP
In celebration of 30 crucial records and the subsequent liquidation of two of the label’s landmark releases, REACT! Records and MINDSET are proud to announce their latest collaboration; the MINDSET EP Collection (RXR-XXX).

The product of a bond formed in the back of rusting, heat-less cargo van/ death trap hurtling relentlessly through the frigid winter of 2007 during the waning days of The First Step, the REACT!/MINDSET relationship has developed from two up-and-comers to arguably one of the most crucial pairings of recent memory. The EP Collection resurrects and combines the out-of-print R E A L P O W E R (the record that started it all) with the band’s raging sophomore release (also out of print!), Time & Pressure, onto a 45rpm 12″. All tracks have been remixed by Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations in Baltimore, and remastered by Carl Saff in Chicago, who ware able to collectively bring even more power and intensity to the MINDSET sound we’ve come to know and love. As always, graphics on this release were handled by Ev Wivell (vocals) and feature classic tour photography by Chris Bavaria (bass) from both eras of the band as well as live shots by Todd Pollock and Dan Gonyea. All this and more has been formatted into a gatefold LP, BOLD style! Each copy will come with a digital download and the pressing info is 300 on WHITE and 500 on BLACK vinyl.

For the diehards out there, we’re offering a Deluxe Edition double LP version on RED VINYL limited to 200 copies. This version combines a second press of the LiveSET LP (originally released by UpsideDown Records) with the Collection LP. A sort of one stop shop for all your MINDSET needs if you will. The 2xLP is the only version that will have LiveSET, and will also come with a limited zine and a sticker.

RXR-029 GROWING STRONGER- TOXIC FUMES EP
Out of the rain soaked gutters of the gloomy Northwest comes Seattle’s own Growing Stronger. Their new EP “Toxic Fumes” is a furious onslaught of angry straight edge hardcore, much in the vein of 97a and No For an answer. Six break neck speed anthems destined to make you grind your teeth while you sit in traffic and wait for the Space Needle to fall on the car in front of you. Recorded at the infamous Dangler by Phil Jones. Layout by FACE and Bubbles.

This one is a real rager and Jim from REACT! is heading up the vocal duties so you need to check it out! RXR-027 TRAZMITORS- S/T
With several releases spanning such fine labels as Deranged, La Ti Da, Seeing Eye, Ugly Pop, Dirtnap, and Meaty Beaty, The Tranzmitors are back with a new single on React! Together since 2005 this Vancouver band is the perfect answer to anyone looking for songs with the astute hooks of Elvis Costello’s “This Year’s Model” and the punk virility of the Buzzocks. Like the Cute Lepers and the sorely missed Exploding Hearts, The Tranzmitors have the kind of timelessness that makes you want to forget about any punk records made after 1980. Err, except for this one.
